Despite opposition from the Puyallup Tribe, over 80 community organizations, and Governor Inslee, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is still working to complete their fracked gas project in Tacoma. This project is an affront to our climate, health, and local community safety.
PSE needs one final permit from the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency (PSCAA). The agency is currently accepting public comments on their draft plan to issue this permit, and will hold a public hearing on August 27th.
What: Final Public Hearing on Tacoma LNG
When: August 27th from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
Where: Rialto Theatre in Tacoma
Join the Puyallup Water Warriors for a march beginning at Don Pugnetti Park at 11 a.m, with a culmination rally at 1 p.m. outside the Rialto Theatre.
This hearing is our last opportunity to tell this agency in-person that this facility is wrong for our region. In between sessions, Native Daily Network will host a free screening of their powerful film Ancestral Waters, which tells the story of the Puyallup Tribe’s resistance to this facility. RSVP for this critical hearing and day of action today!
Can’t attend? Send in your comment online before September 9th to help us tell PSCAA: a new 8 million gallon fossil fuel facility has no place in Washington!
PSCAA has moved this project forward based on deeply flawed environmental analysis, and without the government-to-government consultation with the Puyallup Tribe that is required under law. Now, we must object to this decision and call on the agency to reconsider and deny PSE’s permit. Join us on August 27th to stand for a truly clean, healthy energy future.
